Carefully constructed and characterized iodine cells are critical elements in many stabilized lasers systems. Their fabrication is difficult and the BIPM therefore maintains a cell design and filling service for NMIs and other customers who have occasional needs for iodine cells. As the performance of cells is dependent on a highly reliable filling technique, we also maintain a suite of characterization and diagnostic tools and systems that can be used to test cell performance immediately after filling.
