Primary calibrators and comparisons for organic analysis
The BIPM is the coordinating laboratory for the continuing CCQM-K55 series of comparisons related to organic substance purity determination and has established laboratory facilities to support these activities. Measurement capabilities* at the BIPM include organic analysis by LC-UV, LC-MS, LC-CAD, GC-MS, GC-FID, DSC and TGA as well as coulometric Karl Fischer titration for water content.
The BIPM coordinated the CCQM-P20.e and CCQM-P20.f comparisons on organic purity as part of a series of pilot studies carried out within the CCQM Organic Analysis Working Group (OAWG), to investigate the degree of equivalence of national measurement capabilities for organic purity determination. The CCQM-K55 key comparisons have followed on from the completion of CCQM-P20, and are piloted on an on-going basis by the BIPM. Participation in these comparisons is now an integral requirement of the OAWG's overall strategy to underpin the Primary Calibration Reference Services of NMIs providing measurement services in organic analysis.
